The only decent amp you'll get for that kind of music within 100 bucks is a Roland Microcube.

How much can you spend on the guitar?

For that money the only usable guitars I know are the Yamaha Pacifica 012 and the Ibanez GAX30. People like to bash the latter, but I used to play one and liked it. The Yamaha is more versatile though because it has a different pickup configuration, so I'd rather go for that one to be honest. That's preference though, after all, you could like the sound of the Ibanez better.
I'll post some links in a second.

Keep in mind that you'll also need a gig bag, tuner, strap, cords and a guitar stand if possible. That's easily fifty bucks or more alltogether.

The Yamaha:

The Microcube. Unfortunately it's priced at 129$ at the moment. I really advise you to save up and get that instead of just getting some of the cheaper amps that can be found. maybe look for a used one.

I couldn't find a the GAX30 online, but it's still being produced and should be 150$ (170$ max). I looks somewhat like this:

Yea, get the cube, or a Vox AC if you can afford it, it has a tube in it and sounds great with lots of tones.
Ibanez RG3EXQM1 (Drop D/Standard)
Paul Reed Smith Custom SE Semi-Hollow (Drop B, A#)
Marshall MG50DFX
Boss TU-2 > Dunlop Crybaby From Hell > MXR Phase 90 > Sansamp GT2 > Boss DD-3 > Boss BF-3

thats wat the clerk says Vox AC is better but which one cube or VOC??
#14
^^What the guys said. You didn't mean the Vox AC though, did you? That one costs 1000$ or something like that. I think you meant the AD, but that one's been discontinued. There's a new model though, the VT, which is just as good. Unfortuantely the smallest version costs 200$

But anyway, the Microcube does rock well enough. Best amp for the price imo.

EDIT: The Vox VT15:

You could look for a used Vox AD15VT on ebay of course, it should cost you 120$ - 130$.

Get a microcube from roland and a guitar from rondo music. Best guitars for $100 you ll ever find
#16
oh btw im left hand XD i guess im going with the roland microcube :] n iono but hows ephiphone?

Most Epis under 400 bucks are not so very good. Even the more expensive ones vary greatly in quality, so I think as a beginner you should stay away from them, because you could easily end up purchasing one that is crap.

As a lefty you'll have to pay extra for guitars most of the time. You might consider learning to play right handed, because you'll have way more guitars to choose from in the future if you do. Many guitars aren't available in a lefty versions and many guitar stores, expecially the smaller ones, don't stock lefty guitars anyway. I can't comment on how hard it is for a lefty to learn to play right handed, but I know a girl who did it and she didn't seem to have problems with it.

Have you just started guitar? Because if you're left handed I strongly suggest you learn right handed anyway.

look at the peavey vypyr 15
better than the microcube and apparently cheaper now

Right there.... You are not gonna find much decent with that much moneys, so might as well get this and save up.

Also when you do upgrade in a couple months down the line, you can probally sell it for almost as much as you paid.

AND its something to start on.

i have the same thing but it was right handed n it was crappy :/ im goin to buy a roland microcube n a 90$ or 150$ left handed electric guitar

k if you mean 100 for the amp and 150 for the guitar
then i say
dean for the guitar
crate/roland/vypyr for the amp (in order of price and personal preference)

Peavey Vypyr 15 is an awesome little amp.
Roland MicroCube is supposed to be really good also.

Please dont get a squier.

Have you thought of learning acoustic? Technically an acoustic would come out a lot cheaper at a total of $150 for a Yamaha F335 and you dont need the cable or amp for it >_>
