I need a amp that has nice radiohead-esque cleans for gigging. I want to use a pro-co rat for the distortion so the amps distortion doesn't really matter. 700$ to 1000$ for budget.
I decided I want to be more like the people on ug...

That oughta do it.

Have you looked into fenders?

EDIT: You could definitely find an AC30 within that price range.

Which fender models specifically? And what are the pluses of an AC30?

Probably a HRD or Twin Reverb if you go for a Fender, but shoot for the AC30.
Telecaster - SG - Jaguar
Princeton Reverb, Extra Reverb
P-Bass - Mustang Bass
Apogee Duet 2 - Ableton Suite

AC30 and Fender Cleans are very different. AC30s are naturally very trebly, but not overly bright, and they have a nice hard edge. Fender cleans tend to be crystal clear and shimmery, with a fair amount of brightness, but that's pretty easily controllable.

if you could find a used Mesa Lonestar in that range, that would be godly. However, its very unlikely.

Don't judge me.

mesa is crazy expensive here is australia. i'm talking up around the $5000 mark for some of the amps. i have heard clips of the lonestar though and thought it was pretty damn awsome.

I'd probably go for an Twin Reverb if I had that kind of cash for that genre.

All of Radiohead use AC30s or Fender Twins for cleans.

Or actually it may just be Ed that uses the twin. In any case, I would say the AC30 cause thats what Johnny uses.

I have both Fender and Vox amps.

For Radiohead I would go with the VOX AC30. As a poster above pointed out, they provide a perfect clean tone that has some bite. My Fender does shimmer and shine, but the VOX for some reason has a bit more umph to it. Sounds more solid.

I don't know exactly which amp the Radiohead boys used on "Let Down," but you can sure get that perfect clean, chiming sound of that song on a VOX AC30. Matter of fact, I'm going to play that song on my AC30 later today. Thanks.
