I'm already running scales up at down at 16th's at 100 with both hands pretty cleanly.

I can play so many parts of dream theater songs, my hands aren't fast enough to keep up with a lot of it though.

any other bands that have similar synth styles to dream theater. Or songs that will develop good hand independence would be great.

Thanks!

Good training for playing keyboards - you should look at songs by these bands:
1. Rhapsody of Fire
2. Sonata Arctica
3. Nightwish
4. Epica
5. Symphony X
6. Kamelot

Cannot think of more bands now. Hope this helps.
"Fly with me forever high
And with these wings
We'll set the world on fire
Fly with me through scorching skies
You and I - The lie of lies"

In my band I play keyboards for Killers and MGMT(Electric Feel - brilliant) songs, but I'm not sure if they'd interest you.

Children of Bodom, crosses my mind to add to that list.
If you like dream theatre, try some Liquid Tension Experiment.

Most of the solo's on keyboards are hardly for beginners though.

Dragonforce, i know most of u think they fail, but the keyboard riffs are AWESOME to me

also certain hammerfall songs have some cool keyboard/synth parts

also, to advertise for gulli05 , try the song he's working on right now, it's just an intro, but has BRILLIANT keyboard parts. seriously, go try it. and hope u have a program that can read gp4/gp5

i think that's all i've got for now, will edit later if i think of anything else

EDITNUMBERONE: Elvenking, they sometimes put in keyboards, although their keyboardist usually plays violin.

EDITNUMBERTWO: Black Tide and Metallica both use piano in one song each, and black tide has some very good guitar riffs to play on piano

Also, A7X does good background piano parts, and Disturbed, believe it or not, uses piano in their song Darkness, and maybe Overburdened, although i'm not sure because i don't like that song
