Well hello.
I've said this to myself a few more times before.
Im going to learn guitar, but never have got round to doing it.
I have a crappy starter guitar, and a crappy amp.
But i suppose it'll do.
I just need some advice on what to do first?
I have no clue on what to do as i've never ever played guitar before.
The last time i tried i started to learn Deep Purple start of smoke on the water.

Advice would be appreciated.

first, learn proper finger picking and pick-picking. learn chords and chord names. learn to read a little bit of music(not hard to learn) and of course tab. learn some simple songs, and learn some exercises. do chromatic exercises. then from there practice until you are clean, and learn techniques. remember, it will take some work. the first month will bore you, but still practice 20-30 minutes a day.

also learn the notes on the fretboard. you'll have no idea what the heck your doin it for, but it will help 110% later on.

If you're not use to guitar, just fool around on it so you get the feel of it.
Everybody pretty much starts out with a half-decent setup.
If you get use to the guitar, learn chord positions, power chords etc.
but i'd stay simplistic for the next couple months, like single note songs and simple power chord songs.

That made no sense bro.

To the TS: You should start with like wonderwall and run around (oasis and blues traveler respectively) both songs are like 4 chords total.
