Hey I'm not sure if this topic fits here. If it doesn't just move it.

I'm having problems with my sound system. I took it to a school camp and played my iPod through it. I thought "Hey this is gonna be so loud the whole camp will hear my music" but no, other people took little iPod specific speakers and totally owned my sound. I use a standard headphone jack (3.5mm) to plug the iPod to the system.

I was wondering a few things. Is there a preamp for this sort of thing? If I can use a guitar preamp is it worth buying it specifically for the sound system as I don't need it for my rig? Or is it just better to buy a specific iPod speaker dock. I don't particularly want to part with the system because it's been my release for about 6 or 7 years.

Cheers for the help.

you can get a preamp, but many modern stereos have special hookups for this sort of thing, time to upgrade if you want to use your iPod.

If you can, get the Griffin Amplifi. It's great.

...modes and scales are still useless.
