Hey guys, been playing guitar almost 8 years now, most of that with my Yamaha which is all humbuckers. The only guitar I have played that had single coils was a cheap Strat copy, think it was called a baracuda or something...

Anyway, I'm not sure which type I want to get, don't really have any experience, or much knowledge about them...

I'm willing to spend up to about $1500 Canadian, and for the most part I will be playing ska on this thing. Will be playing everything else as well, but I am mostly getting it for ska.

Any help is appreciated

Yeah give or take its the same $

looked at the American deluxe, I think I would rather have it all single coil,

it looks like the deluxe and the fat Strats have humbuckers on the bridge.

The American Strat is all single coils, I think thats my first choice at the moment.

Well, there's 4 basic NEW Strat models:

Standard - Made in Mexico (MIM)
Deluxe - MIM, Noiseless Pickups
American Standard - Made in America (MIA)
American Deluxe - MIA, Noiseless Pickups, a few others

All 4 (I believe) have the 3 Single-coil option (SSS) or the 2 Single-coils and the humbucker (HSS)

There are also some other models (Highway 1, Road Worn, Artist, etc.) just check out this page:

My advice: go to any guitar store and try out several different models/pickup configurations (SSS or HSS)

Personally, I think a MIM standard sounds just as good as an American Standard; definitely not worth the $500+ extra on the price tag.
Still best to make your own opinion.

Best of luck! Great choice

yeah I plan on trying them all out as well, just like having a bit of info going in, thanks guys.

I'm liking the noiseless pickups and I definitely want all single coil. Also don't mind paying a bit extra to have it made in America.

Looks like the American duluxe SSS is what I am aiming for:
