i've already noticed the 'which guitar under $300' sticky, but i don't know much about the wood types and what they bring when it comes to acoustic guitars, so really it doesn't quite tell me enough.

all i need to know is which guitar to recommend to my friend, who's starting out on acoustic, but he's wanting to do guitar as a real hobby, not one of those 'i have a guitar and can play a couple songs' type of guys.

he's big on incubus so i guess an acoustic that has good enough action that he can easily play chords/barre chords all across the fretboard. if it has a cutaway that's a plus. one that can plug into an amp is also desired.

obviously the thing needs to hold tuning relatively well otherwise he'll spend more time learning to tune rather learning to play.

thanks a lot!!
