a while back i got a MIM fender strat which is the awesomest thing ever, this left my first ever electric, a remarkably similar black strat copy redundant

BUT NOT FOR LONG!

i aquired a tom delonge style scratchplate and set about turning it into a charvel inspired strat for t3h brootals and such

BEFORE PICS

OK so i removed the old scratchplate assembly.....

O NOES!!11!

turns out it's only routed for SSS

time to unleash my large powerful tool

as you can see, i'm clearly a wizard with the router

i robbed the pickup from a certain SG which shall remain nameless >__> but it's a swineshead warthog, pretty hot at around 15K. i have my eye on a mightymite mitherbucker, 21Ks of sheer METTELZZ

so here's the finished thing:

im pretty pleased with it tbh. it sounds awesome. especially with a phaser and plenty of tapping

so there you go. what does everyone think?

also: sorry about the pics being sideways but i assume your head rotates =]

cheers guys =]

the switch in place of the third knob was a phase switch for the middle pickup and the extra one was a 'neck on' switch. bridge and neck was a nice combination

as for paint jobs it's definately a possibility so stay tuned

my mate's got that mighty mite humbucker of which you speak. it's pretty awesome but veeery midsy and can get muddy. Great for classic hi-gain though.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

1. I'm guessing you're a floyd fan with the neck on mod (Gilmour used a seven tone switch in most of his guitars)
2. You should refinish that sucker... Seriously, you think it looks good now? Paint that thing baby blue or another odd color and it'll look even better.
3. I'd put in a floyd, just to make it even more charvelized... charvelized, is that like carmelized but with a guitar?
4. You need to get a volume knob that goes to 11
#19
not a fan of floyd i just wanted tele-esque tones

im thinking of refinishing it but i have nooooo ideal what to do =/

Well I put in a seven tone switch and it's awesome.

Like I said, do something crazy, baby blue, blood red, pink, bright yellow, lime green. If you want it to be charvel style, you have to paint it a strange color.
#22
Refinishing takes a lot of planning if you're new at it.
YOu need to sand it back to the wood, prime it, colour layer, lacquer.
It sounds easy but it takes practice.
