Just bought a new Ibanez RG2470 guitar instead of my old RG370.
And I feel that my Line6 Spider combo and especially G1X effect processor are not good enough. I heard it even with RG370 - some after sound metallic whistling produced by G1X.

Any practical recommendations? What kind of gear you guys are using to play at home?

I am not looking for some super sound but rather want to get everything possible from my new guitar. I play at home mostly and need not too many effects. What I need is clean/acoustic, crunch for blues and distortion for hard/heavy (with ability to switch between them by pedal).
Budget $1000-$2000.

Pretty much anything will be better than your spider and with that kind of budget there's tons of great amps out there you could pick up.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

I haven't tried it yet, but the Egnater Tourmaster is supposed to be extremely versatile with a low price. However, it is my understanding that it is made in China (helps explain the price if the performance is as good as they say) and that makes me a bit skeptical. Korea has been proving their manufacturing prowess lately, but I'm not convinced of China's capabilities just yet.

If you like Line 6, look into Vettas. You've got the budget for a Fractal Audio Axe-FX as well.

If you're into the tubes, a Peavey XXX, Randall RM100, VHT Sig:X, Laney VH100R, a used HiWatt or Hughes & Kettner Duotone..

Maybe a Mojave?

Thanks to everyone!
I will check it out.
Actually I am not sure that I am ready to go with tubes.
Guess for home this is not so convenient - have to wait to warm up, can be too loud for good sound, etc.
Ok. I will consider it if this is the only way. But isn’t there a chance to get if not perfect but quite good sound with some modern electronic stuff?

Tube myths ftl.

Tubes take approximately 30 seconds to 1 minute to warm up. If you're playing at bedroom volume, it's much closer to 30 seconds. Tube amps sound GOOD at low volumes, but they sound their best when cranked. You don't have to crank a tube amp for it to sound awesome.

The transistor stuff I suggested is quite good.

OK will go with tubes
I visited a local store to play some tube amps with my guitar.
Actually they had only one inexpensive (hybrid) VOX AD50VT.
It sounded not so bad as for me but it seems that some modeling electornic is inside which I think is not so good.

They also have some other models on their central store:
(in order of price increasing)

Randal RG50TC-E
Bugera 333 XL 212
Marshall DSL401
Marshall TSL601
Marshall JVM215
Marshall JVM205

JSX 212 and Mark IV are not available

Any suggestions between them?

Bugera looks very promising for its price but the brand is not well known to me.

Sure. And even more than that
But I am not so eager to spent as much money as possible. At least before I learn all the alternatives.

In country where I live (Ukraine) this is not so easy. We have stupidest customs in the world, so I will pay 20% VAT for import and waste few days running from door to door collecting some stupid papers

And actually, I prefer to buy a brand new one.

Anyway, if you think that JSX 212 is much better that everything that I've listed, I will keep it in mind. Thank you!

Bugera is fairly good, but extremely unreliable. Marshall JVM is overpriced and overrated. They're rather flat sounding, despite their claims of versatility. The VT is not for you, especially with your budget. The other Marshalls aren't quite as good as the ones already suggested.

Just found Peavey JSX 212 in a local internet-shop for $1750. It is $1300 on ebay, but being delivered here with import taxes paid it will cost me pretty the same.

So now I have a short-list of:

1) Peavey JSX 212 - $1750
2) Bugera 333 XL 212 - $1040

Does it worth to pay extra $700 if we take sound quality as a main criterion?

if you're going for a tube amp that's super versatile as well as having HIGH QUALITY tone...i'd definitely suggest a Randall MTS series amp.

SS wise, Line 6 Flextone or Vetta seem to fit your bill and save a good bunch of money .

The JSX is for sure a better amp than the Bugera. In my humble opinion your amp is the one area of your guitar rig that you should never skimp on as you will just end up with GAS again after the new gear satisfaction has disappeared.

It seems that Mesa Boogie Express 5:50 and 5:25 are also available here.
How is their sound versus Peavey JSX?

Good cleans, but a JSX would be far more versatile. They aren't bad amps, but they're overpriced and underwhelming successors to the F-Series.
