Alright GG&A, now that I'm fully content with my 6505, I've got my mint condition Spider III 15W practice amp hanging around.

What can I do with this bugger?
Are there any funny mods?

I don't think I could sell a $100 amp, but it is in perfect condition w/ all original packaging.

If I get enough ideas, I will make a poll out of it.

Just craigslist it, advertise it as a good starter amp for a beginner guitarist (which is basically it's only good use) and you can probably get 60-70 for it.

I'd just keep it around just in case you would need it. I love my spider, I don't see why people just hop on the bandwagon here.

Because it pretty much is a terrible amp (I own a spider III too). It always sounds muffled and fake. And the clean channel likes to come on with phaser which is crap. It does me alright in my room but god that is a bad amp.

Give it to me
Throw it off a high building
See if you can blow the speaker

Hang on to it. You never know when your peavey will blow a tube or something. Having a backup amp (at least for practice) is always nice.

This
Come on people its an amp!!!! Use it, maybe replace the speaker, or try to get a good tone out of it. Maybe even see if you could get maybe 50/100 bucks and trade it for a used Vypyr 15

I don't want to put more money into it, just use it in a creative way.

Is there any wiring I can practice on it?

nope, not really. transistor amps are really tough to mod, especially modeling amps.

Change the preset.

I'd suggest keeping it, who knows, you might happen to do a recording, and one of the settings on there might be perfect for what you want...............or you could just practice with it.

Just to clear it up, I practice with my 6505, so this thing has no been used once since I upgraded.

I say sell it...

Then save for a Spider III 30w!!!!

why get the more expensive model of an already not-so-good amp?

I say keep it. It's still fun to mess with the effects. Then when you get bored, either sell it on CL, or do what everyone else is saying--BLOW THAT MOFO UP!!
Save Gibson

^Do it, if you want Gibson to stop with the poor QC and terrible new guitars...
