I posted this in the Pit before I realised there was actually a forum for it, so hopefully I'll get some better answers here. This was the original post:

I've tried to record into Audacity and Reaper but on both programs when I played it back it sounded (roughly) a semitone lower than I actually recorded it in, which made it useless for recording imrpovisation over it ect.

Does anyone know what the problem is and how I can fix it?

Maybe you accidentally added an effect? Whether it's in your amp/pedals/recording program I wouldn't know, but just have a check.

Or you could try tuning a semitone higher.

Sorry that I have no real fixes though.

That sounds like a sample rate problem. The difference between 48kHz and 44.1kHz is roughly a semi-tone.

Yeah, I'm almost certain it's to do with sample rates. Check that you're exporting it at the same rate as you're recording it.
