Discuss, you know the rules.
It was made up by voters.

In my opinion, it's an excellent list.
It seems to cover all genres and I couldn't agree more besides some flaws like the Stone Temple Pilots hitting number 13.
Great list

This seems about right. Like you said, the only flaw I could find is Stone Temple Pilots. And although the Beatles should be #1, I actually think that Led Zeppelin left a bigger impact. You don't see most bands today looking up to the Beatles for some reason. Metallica seems to be a little too high also, but same thing, they DID leave a really big impact. What magazine is this from?

These lists are all very similar and as always are very objective, i can see this thread ending badly.

I agree with you, as much as I love Led Zeppelin, the Beatles should hit number 1 for the impact on culture and the world itself.
Metallica I think deserves its spot, we need at least one heavy metal band on top 10 or people here will snap

Just cause they were popular doesn't make them great.

Oh, so every genre of music is based in rock now?

I really must have missed that memo...

Also a list of 'greatest bands' that almost entirely encompasses guitar driven music/classic rock is extremely biased imo

edit: Also wtf is 'piano rock'

That's true, but how would people react if the London Symphony Orchestra was on the list?

I wish Weather Report found it's way to replace Metallica, just a piece for Jazz Fusion.

The same way they would react seeing any other band on the list? I completely fail to see the point you are trying to make here...

U2's overrated, and so are RCHP. From what i read, this list is pretty good.

Rap is music, far better than metal for example. id much rather hear about hoes and anal sex than dragons and supressed homosexuality.

There is a distinct lack of Iron Maiden and quite possibly The Clash should be in there.

Also, Metallica and U2 at 8 and 9 respectively

These lists should be banned as they do nothing but annoy people

Apparently, Soundgarden are better than AC/DC! WTF?
The list is not valid without Sabbath either. C'mon, Black Sabbath virtually invented a new genre!
