Here's what it looked like before:

and here's what it looks like now:

about the guitar:
-Mid and neck pups are GFS Alcino Boutiques
-the bridge pup is a custom Lipstick tube
- The tremolo is a "Sung Il"
-The tuners are Wilkinsons

If you want some better/close up pics, just say so, and i'll post them.

I was totally just about to use the same joke.

hm, i seem to be getting that a lot.

What's the problem, does the painted headstock make it look overdone or something?

If anything it seems underdone because its only partially painted. Finish painting it and will look muchly beter ^.^

Agreed. A headstock, in my opinion, should be all or nothing. It looks like you were just happy to cover the "squire" and left it at that.
Also, what kind of paint did you use? It kinda looks like it has brush strokes..

Hahaha well that and i was running out of spray paint that's interesting though, Next mod/build i do i'll just leave it bare or paint the whole thing i suppose.

I painted it with spray paint, the "brush strokes" you see are actually the wood grain
#17
Wood grain, eh? You must've put a lot of muscle into that thing. Getting through the thick base coats on a squire is no easy task.
#21
I say you should...:

1) Smooth it out. Sand with grits up to 2000, then buff the mofo.

2) Paint the entire headstock.

Good jeorb though.
#22
Why did you feel the need to paint it orange?

Im doing up my Ibanez in orange. But a better orange.
#23
****ty paintjob. Not a bad color, but you either didn't use primer or didn't use enough paint. Hmm.

prime, sand, prime, sand, prime sand then buffer, the grain showing through kills the paint job imo.

Quote by deftonesordie
^ agreed.

Actually i used about 4 coats of primer and 7-8 coats of paint (that's a lot right?). Idk what it was, but I have a feeling that since I brought it all the way down to the wood, the wood grain "absorbed" most of the primer and paint and made it impossible to cover up.

Next time when you are down to bare wood, wet the wood so the grain rises. Then, sand the body again until it's smooth (and use a higher grit like a 220 on up). This will prepare the wood for the primer, so that the grain won't rise when you prime it!
I like the new volume and tone knobs!
How does that lipstick pickup sound, I was always curious?

haha thanks!

I'm having a couple wiring problems, so the guitar is getting a lot of feedback but even still, the tone is pretty good for a sub $45 pup. it's really vintage/jazzy sounding (if that makes any sense), i'll be able to give you a better idea once i get around to rewiring it.

finish painting the headstock an then somehow stick the real fender strat logo on it. technically its lying but just dont tell anyone

Care to critique my most recent guitar mod?
1 - Square keys look better than round keys. This is a well known fact.
2 - Half-painted headstock looks half-done.

1 - lol, no. That would totally suck.
2 - You bumped an old thread to say THAT???

The orange is Kickass. The haadstock actually looks pretty sweet.
I'd say paint it all orange though. If it was half stained, then It'd be awesomer.

Also, What do lipstick pups sound like?
I've always wanted to try them out, But never had the chance. I might've been able to if I wasn't rushed out of the store...
