Does anybody have any comparisions/likes/dislikes/opinions about the two amps.
Is the 6505 212 combo any better than the 5150, or did Peavey just make the 6505 because they couldn't keep producing the 5150's after Van Halen quit?

I'd like to know what's an all around better amp, and what each amp may be better suited towards.

I'm only talking about the 212 combos, not the stacks.

Thanks

ok thanks, so basically they just renamed the 5150 once EVH left the house?
Anybody else have any input?

edit: also, do the 5150 II or the 6505 II come in combo amps?
Or do the II/+ models only come for the stacks?

there is no 5150 II combo..........
and Peavey is releasing a 6505+ 1x12 combo on MAY-JUNE for $500 new.........

can't WAIT for that!

but yea as far as i've seen, the II/+ models are only in head format.

and yes, peavey only renamed the amp to the 6505 due to van halen having owned the rights to the amp model bame "5150"

which is why fender was able to release the 5150III without any trademark infringement from peavey.

I'm not positive, but I think 5150's are American made and 6505's aren't

EVH copyrighted the 5150 name so they just thought 'hey let's keep making it but change the name to 6505!'

6505 have a bight less gain

You may be thinking of the 6505+, because the 5150 and 6505 are exactly the same amp.
Got a question about Baritone guitars? Feel free to PM me.

Thanks to UG, I converted from Metalcore to some "real" Metal.

6505+ has a touch more clean also. Of course, that's like saying a Metal Zone sucks a little less than a Metal Core.
