Hey peoples.
I'm wondering if i should get a new amp or continue saving for a new guitar (probably a LTD EC-401).
I have $600 Australian and currently have a Fender Frontman 15G.
I mainly play metallica and trivium.

cheers ,

Are you willing to buy used, and if so off eBay?

Because $600AUD limits you a lot when it comes to new, but sometimes you find some good stuff used.

If you are OK with used, check out www.musicswopshop.com.au.

And the Cube 30s are OK, but I also recommend you save more for an amp.

OK, then I'd probably go for the Cube. But try and get a 60w version just in case you gig in the future.

This is a really n00bish question , but i read comments on youtube when i looked up reviews of the 30x and a comment said , "roland cube wont take the pedals well because it's a solid state modelling amp" is this true?

Yeah, totally true. Modeling amps (from the Cube to the Line6 Vetta series) will not take pedals well, even on the clean channel.

Do you use a lot of pedals? If so look into a Peavey Transtube amp, or maybe even a Fender Champ with a Metal Muff.

@bucketmark , im not that sure but i think about ~$2000
I've only got one amp which is a digitech DF-7 distortion pedal. Is the metal distortion on the 30x good enough for Metallica/Trivium?

Yeah the 30x can handle them, but ~$2000 for the 401? really? why not just get the 500. Theres a 1000 deluxe on ebay for like $1,300

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.
