B-52 has better distortion. It's also a better all round amp.

What styles exactly are you playing though, and what's your guitar?

Then go for the B-52.

The only con is that they do have a somewhat iffy reliability reputation, but the money you would have to spend to take it to a tech and have it checked out (something you should really do with any new amp purchase anyway, particularly tube amps) would be less than the amount you'd need to spend on an OD to get the Valveking to metal and a speaker swap cause the stock one sucks balls.

Make sure you do a NAD with pics and clips.

And take it to a tech once you get it.
