ok heres the gist...

ive been playing for 2 years and i want to start soloing
i want to be able to write compose and play solos, like that of bands like
pantera
meshugah
iced earth
lamb of god
mostly very technical solos, the only solo i know how to play is the solo to californiacation :P

the techniques i know are

bends
vibratos
tapping (not very good)
hammer ons
pull offs
slides

thats about it, i want to become more serious about my playing since i havent been thus far and would like to start with soloing, thank you ultimate guitar

i was also thinking of getting a guitar teacher...
im 14 and ive been playin a lil over a year i guess
i used to be into alternative
nirvana, mudhoney, old greenday
but recently ive decided i wanna branch out onto more difficult stuff, and alternative kind of lost its taste

Dude, shut up...

He doesn't need the damn book, and for your information, he can learn tons of theory here on UG. In fact, he can learn basically everything there is to know.

TS, definitely go and check out the Musician Talk forum. They have a number of stickied threads detailing what to do and where to go next. Be back in a sec.

EDIT:

READ THIS F**KIN' STICKY

That's to start with. Go through it as much as possible.
