I was going to go to my music store today and find ouy how much they would charge for a pickup change. Will it be expensive? Should i invest in a soldiering iron and do it myself.

I think a $9 soldering iron would be cheaper. And would be more fun. (For me anyway)! Wiring pickups isn't difficult. Soldering takes some practice, but its fairly easy to do. If you are getting SD pickups, they have some of the easiest wiring diagrams I have ever seen. Also check the PU wiring thread on here. Its pretty detailed as well.
