You're having trouble finding info about 59 les pauls? That's almost as unbelievable as your father's friend actually having one.

If it's true tho, ask here www.mylespaul.com/forums

You will be a rich person.

If he needs an organ donated, and you're the right blood type, donate the organ and ask for the guitar in exchange.

no. way.

Part of me does not believe this, you don't know how much it's worth but you're sure it's a '59? I'd have to see pics and a serial number of this.

Go to the www.lespaulforum.com to read more about '59s.

The pics better be plentiful and of good quality. Other than just the standard photos of the body and whatnot include pictures of the serial number, fretboard, inlays, switch ring, switch nut, electronics, bridge, jackplate, pickups including the baseplate which means you'll have to take them out. Otherwise you're either lying or they found a different guitar and good quality pics will easily determine this. It's easy to see the differences in a real '59 compared to even a reissue when you know what to look for.

£5 says it's a sunburst Epiphone Les Paul Special-II.

I don't have a basement.

But in my loft/attic, when we moved in we found some old porn mags from the 70s. Not exactly a '59 LP.

Also, pics?

Look, it might just be your dad pulling a cruel joke. Besides, if the friend still has it he probably knows it's worth half a million. If not, you're probably not getting it just like that anyway because people don't just give away guitars like that, even if they're only worth a thouusand let alone 500 times that.
