I've been playing guitar for about 8 years now and I write songs almost daily... but I've never really taken lessons or anything of the sort. My question was why the following riff... sounds... classical?
e|----------------------------------|
B|-----0-----------------0---------|
G|--1---1-------------2---2------|
D|2---------x4------1---------x4-|
A|----------------------------------|
E|----------------------------------|

just a very classical style change i guess

i dont know enough (yet :P) theory to explain it properly but it sounds very familiar, probably used a lot in classical music

it's probably because you've got a little bassline going on with your notes on the D string, and because you're taking a similar picking pattern and doing different notes each time you play it.
