ok inspired buy the cartoon nostalgia thread.

I loved/love pokemon as much as the next guy, but i before I was into pokemon I had a digimon obsession for the longest time. When I was like 5-8 it was digimon show every saturday morning and digimon toys and digimon cards. I have a TON of digimon cards.
But no one ever mentions digimon on UG? does this strike nostalgia to anyone but me?

td;lr I used to love digimon, no one else ever talks about it.

whats the crack with all these cartoon nostalgia threads?

To me they were superior to Pokemon in a way. They could actually talk in structured sentences instead of saying their own fucking name all the time.

Pokemon was better.

The first season of Digimon was okay, then it went downhill.

Digimon was like Pokemon's retarded little brother. Pokemon left to go do something cool so Digimon tried to get some attention but just embarrassed itself.
Me and some friends saw the DVD for like £2 in a supermarket a while back so we bought it. It was worse than we remembered.

Theme tune was sick ass though.
I'm so adjective, I verb nouns.

I think they just took Pokemon and Transformers and smashed them together.

I preferred Digimon as a cartoon, because Pokemon was really awful and Digimon was only awful.

I can even remember the plot of some of the episodes of digimon.
For some reason it just seems like a little more intelligent of a show than pokemon.
hahah.

I remember watching one episode. I could never get into it. Pokemon was better in my opinion.

Digimon owns Pokemon. Partial nudity, death, guns, the last "boss" was supposed to be the Devil. Wizardmon would kick the crap out of any mentally-ill creature that can only scream it's name like it has tourettes or something.

It didn't make any sense to me, like they got super huge, but then they got small again

Digimon cards looked a lot cooler though they were worth nothing back then even at the height of their popularity in comparison to pokemon cards.

digimon WAS pretty badassed back in the day. second season was tolerable but everything after that blows chunks

I just remember all the cool kids played pokemon and all the nerds played digimon.

I know I started the thread, but watching old videos on youtube, digimon is definitely not better than pokemon. I used to love digimon, but I was little.

First, I want to point out that Digimon and Pokemon were actually in production at the same time - Pokemon just reached the Western world first. It bothers me when people dismiss Digimon as a Pokemon rip-off.

I always thought that between the two, the Digimon Universe had far superior artwork and storylines. They were never afraid to get dark when the world threatened to end, whereas Pokemon treated even its darker subjects with a pretty light heart. Plus, the ability to speak helped give the monsters more personality than even Pokemon's human characters.

The games, IMO, were roughly on par, depending on my mood.
