I was playing my 6505+ a few minutes ago.
Halfway through a song, the amp popped, lost volume and now everytime i switch channels or turn my EQ on or off, it pops twice.
I tried turning it up a little and it sounded horrid, not like it used to.
i was thinking speaker blowout in my cab, or preamp tube maybe?
I looked in back, all the power tubes were glowing.

suggestions?

Powertubes are shot, mostlikely.

look back there and see how they're doin'.

edit: you could do the old pencil tap trick on them to see how they're doin, but i'm not sure if that'll be a dead give away if they're dead. The preamp tubes could be gone also, but normally drastic reductions in volume are due to power tubes going

edit2: are all of the tube glowing? if so, you're doing better than i am, because i blew out my whole power amp somehow

Would the powertubes still glow if they were shot?

How would i tell if the preamp tubes are bad or not?

more likely, a single power tube is shot, throwing everythign out of wack..

hard to tell w/o seeing it firsthand though.
