Hi.
Ive been playing on a cheap guitar for a while now, so i decided to buy a new guitar.
Im planning to buy a Schecter Tempest Custom, but some people say the pickups sucks. What do you think? Is it worth changing the pickups? There is a signature edition of the Tempest Custom guitar with Seymour Duncan JB/’59 pickups instead of the Duncan Designed HB-102. Is it worth paying 300$ more for the signature edition?

Nah man, it'd save you $200 to just buy the Tempest and replace the pups when you get it.
My gear:
Schecter C-1+ w/ Seymour duncan Jazz (neck) and Full Shred (bridge), with Sperzels
B-52 LG-100A 4x12 half stack
Rogue LX405 Bass
Yamaha classical
Some sort of acoustic Squier
Boss Flanger
Lyon Chorus

i recently got a schecter c1+ with the hb-102 pickups. imho it's not worth switching them and they sound great. it's my understanding that the duncan designed pickups are the same as their seymour duncan counterparts but are manufactured in korea and not in the states. i'll switch mine if one breaks, but they're great pickups for a much lower price.

Get the guitar then decide for yourself how much you like the pickups. I mean sometimes a cheaper pickup will sound great...just give it a try.,

If it doesn't work out you can always drop in a set of nailbombs/painkillers, or blackouts or whatever makes happy.

Do you recommend any pickups if i decide to switch the HB-102? Im mostly playing punk, rock, metal, hard rock and garage rock.

Tempest Custom and a Seymour Duncan Blackout ABH-2 Metal in the Bridge then drop another Seymour Duncan AHB-1 neck pickup in... get your self a push pull and have the ABH-2 pickup's boost wired up to the push pull...

I have the Tempest Blackjack and love it!

I think the blackout is a bit much for punk and rock. Go with passives, like a JB/jazz combo or perhaps a set of Bareknuckle nailbombs

...or if you really like the JB'59 just go over here:

and get the Tempest Blackjack for the same price as the Custom... I've bought 2 guitars from American Musical they're pretty good... Plus if you put it on a credit card you can make three payments without running a credit check... it helps...
