Because Jimi Hendrix is alive, right? Have you ever heard of the past tense?

And no, the toggle switch trick will not hurt your guitar, as far as I know...

As far as i know, hendrix is dead...

The trick doesn't do any serious damage, but sometimes when I use the trick, the switch becomes unusable until I clean up the contacts...

The guitar is fine after doing it. maybe after some long-term heavy use, you might need to clean the contacts or even fit a new switch, but that's not a huge issue.

The worst thing that could happen is that you break your switch.
and RIP jimi.

woohoo someone said RIP jimi at a mention of jimi hendrix. normally it's only dimebag that gets this threatment.

my faith in people appreciating the real heros is restored

note: everything i say here is my opinion, i'm not bashing dimebag or metal in general, i'm just praising one of my favourite guitarists!

Although to be on topic, it can't really harm the guitar itself, as you can always buy a new toggle switch if you break it.
I like analogue Solid State amps that make no effort to be "tube-like", and I'm proud of it...

...A little too proud, to be honest.

What is the toggle switch trick?

it's where you have a 2 pickup guitar with a volume for each and a 3-way toggle switch - turning the volume down on 1 pickup and then wobbling the switch rapidly creates a sort of killswitch effect.

that is, if it's what i'm thinking of - this can't be done on a typical strat like hendrix normally used, but i'm guessing we're talking about his flying V?
