hello, i was wondering if a marshall jmp-1 preamp is any good for Michael Angelo Batios tone, especially the lead tone in Tribute to Randy.
I would eventually get a poweramp prefereably with 6l6 valves, and use the headphone jack until then.

I probably wont be able to test it out, and the videos on youtube only have that typical metal tone with sharp leads - even the Peavey XXX which I know from experience can get those tones doesn't have any, so i would be relying on UG opinions.

If not, then unless another amp can get that tone under 300 then ill be saving for a lot longer....

the jmp-1 is a very good pre amp and you should be able to get fairly close to that tone quite easily.

edit: and for that tone you may want to look for a poweramp that utilizes el34 powertubes. just my opinion anyway...

i prefer the later breakup of 616s, or is the breakup needed for that kinda tone?
and what do you mean fairly close? is it to thin, need a boost or something?
