Yup, a push/pull is exactly the kind you'd want for a coil split

Dude, don't even ask about pics. We here in the GB&C feed off pics, we absorb their energy to live... Someone says they have a build but won't post any pics at all, and we all die a bit

Well I'd suggest maybe rounding it out a bit... or cutting it differently, it looks like a hockey stick right now. Try to round it out, and painting it is perfect, it needs to be painted.

You should do a mini burst on the headstock just like you did to the body. That would look cooler than just one solid color.

i would love to do that, ive got no experience with painting tho, would it be simple enough?
EDIT: i didnt paint the body, bought it off a friend

im such a noob lol, how does that work? it doesnt actually explain how to spray the paint, i get that you put the template over the headstock, but how would i spray the paint? dont get how it works haha
EDIT: and how would i go about finding the right paint colour?

You can pick up a compressed air spray gun for pretty cheap at a hardware store. You need a small compressor to run it though.

EDIT: for paint colour, check out www.reranch.com they've got just about everything you could think of for paint

I don't know about getting stuff in the UK, but you could do the spray can finish. That tutorial could help you more than anything.

okay
with the tutorial do i just paint the headstock red and then put the templaate on the headstock and then spray the edge of it black?? and then clear coat several times?

cool thanks, it will probably be one of the last things i do on the build.
i ordered my push pull pot so that should be here soon, currently after a pickguard and trying to decide what pickups to get, in particular the single coils.
any suggestions? im after very nice cleans in particular for the neck pickup.

shame this isnt going to fall into the 100GBP build category
just ordered my scratchplate, knobs, and switch, still thinking about what pickups to get....
as i said before, any suggestions on good single coils for cleans in the neck position?
im hoping to get this finished (minus the painted headstock) by next weekend

what sort of music do you play?

1 Thing: Sand down the cavities or the neck pocket and then take pics? I wanna see what wood its made from
#24
ill be using this guitar for punk rock (blink sorta stuff)

okay, ill do that, im not sure what wood it is myself, its pretty light.
might be able to do it tomorrow for you..

oh... ok well you got a good amp. For the pickups unfortunately the only advice i can give is to go to the Dimarzio pickup picker and listen to the Seymour Duncan sound samples. There other brands out there, but there the only ones i know with those features (plus there the main pickup brand)
#28
okay ill have a look on there
thanks for the help matey

i have an update

havent been able to get online for a few days.. but ive made progress with the build
i have a seymour duncan hot rail in the middle pickup position, so effectively this is now a HHS/SHS build (coil split humbucker), now i dont see many of those around haha. so yea, got myself a few of the parts, its coming together pretty well.. im just after a neck single coil, a bridge, and machineheads, and i should have everything and it will be time for wiring.
here is a pic of the current state of the build...

BUMP after 3 months haha
ive nearly finished this project now
still after a neck pickup tho
and still got 3 tuners to put on (got to file through the holes cos theyre too small for the tuners to fit)

over the last couple of days, alot of **** ups, and getting very pissed of at wires coming out of place, ive managed to wire up the 2 pickups i have so far, and i must say it sounds quite decent. certainly a huge range of sounds ive managed from it, the 2 pickups are so different, so i get plenty of choice of tone, which i like

pics up in a bit guys
