So, although I never really paid much attention to it before, or never noticed it as much with gobs of distortion on the amp, my Jackson DK2M w/a Duncan JB/Jazz set in them seems to be making an annoying hum while not playing, almost like a single coil. Is that abnormal? or have I just been lost in active pickup land for so long that minor hum has become more noticable to me?

what cables are you using? cables play a huge role in your tone, and cheap, unshielded cables will add hum to your signal, as well as adding impedance which causes a lack of highs.

also, higher gain settings on any amp will cause some noise.
