Hey, all,

I'm going to be starting a build during the summer once I have spare money again. This will be my second build, my first being my current acoustic project.
This guitar will be modeled after an ESP-f series guitar.

SO, lets see what you all think of my ideas so far:

Wood:
Solid Brazilian mahogany body
Brazilian mahogany neck
Paduak fingerboard

Body:
ESP-F shape (as stated)
no pickguard

Neck:
slim profile
bolt-on construction

Fretboard:
18" radius (compound, if I can figure out how to do it...?)
24 stainless steel jumbo frets
Inlay on the 12th fret
Scalloped 12th-24th frets
25" Scale length

Hardware: (note: all hardware would be in gold, except possibly pickup rings)
Official Floyd Rose (Or Gotoh Licensed)
14:1 Ratio Fullsize Grover Rotomatic tuners
Schaller Straplocks
Telecaster knobs/speed knobs (haven't decided)
Strat-style output jack (set in to the side of the guitar)
Pickup rings (either gold or mahogany)

Pickups:
I've got two options:
1) Two handwound humbucking pickups on mahogany bobbins.
2) Two humbuckers, probably from Dimarzio and/or seymour duncan.

The first is preferred over the second.

Electronics:
2vol, 2 tone
Push/pull on the volume for the neck pickup (coil split)
3-way switch for the pups

So, what do you all think? any ideas? Suggestions? I'm open for pretty much anything.

Sounds REALLY awesome! Definent potential! And you should definently figure out how to do the compound fretboard. Much better.

I know. I've played a couple les pauls that had them, and loved them. (I didn't even know they /made/ les pauls with compound fretboards until then)

Have you bought the wood? Because brazilian mahogany is pretty expensive.

Look foward to it though

Yes, I would be winding the pickups myself- I want to give it a shot.

I was thinking about making it rosewood, at first, but I a) couldn't find the wood and b) was truly afraid of how expensive it would be. I was actually thinking about having a neck made of a different wood, but I love the tone of mahogany.

And no, I haven't bought the wood yet. I'll be buying it during the summer... I wont' have any rent to pay, and I'll have a better paying job. So I'll have right around 1000 to play with. (hence why I'm going a little bit over the top with this one)

^Like I said, only if I end up getting plastic spool humbuckers.

You're going to have one hell of a time finding Brazilian Mahogany for anywhere near a decent price. Being an endangered species, it may not be able to be imported to North America. I'd suggest Sapele Mahogany, or some nice korina (note: This **** is poisonous) if this is the case

I've found some Brazilian mahogany around here, although I would be willing to use sapele, too. Also a really nice sounding wood. =)

Oh, by the way: the wood won't get any extra color for it. I will be putting an oil finish on it.

It is? Huh. Remind me not to do that, then.
Thanks!
