So I'm looking for a good amp for indie, alternative, and hard rock use, and some metal tones wouldn't go astray either.

My budget is $1500 AUD max.

Needs decent cleans too. Bands like Arctic Monkeys, Children Collide would be the indie sort of sounds I'm talking about, but I do hard rock as well so that's important too.

Planning to go gigging with it and need to be able to be heard over a drummer.

Any suggestions?

Where in Australia are you nearest to? Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart, Perth, Melbourne or Sydney?

Yeah I'd probably go with either an AC30 or Fender Twin Reverb with some pedals in front, depending on your tastes.

I'm in Adelaide.

Does the Vox AC30 have enough power to work as a gigging amp, and to be heard over a drummer for practice? Also, it's $1999 at Allan's for a combo, outside of my price range... suppose I could look second hand.

Okay, there's absolutely nothing on Craigslist for Adelaide...

Well, here are some suggestions.

- Vox AC30
- Line 6 Vetta (used)
- Line 6 Flextone
- Bogner Alchemist (used)
- Marshall JCM800

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'm leaning towards the Vox, assuming I can find one in my price range... used market in Adelaide is sadly rather pathetic.
