This started yesterday.

Basically, my computer, at random times, will play the usb connect/disconnect sound, as if I had plugged something into the usb then unplugged it right away.

I googled, and found that it might be motherboard chipset drivers messing with the power that gets sent to usb on Vista (seems some people had issues with their usb being recognized as 1.1 rather than 2.0)

Another possibility was that the cord for a usb device was slightly broken, and moving it certain way caused a disconnect.

My problem, is that I know none of those things are right.

At the moment, my computer is only doing it every few minutes. The only usb connection I have right now is my mouse. Yesterday, however, my computer was doing it wildly, easily a good ten times in a row - WITH NO USB DEVICES CONNECTED AT ALL.

So.. Anybody have any clue what the hell this is?

Dude, I think I would know, Trivium invented Thrash, Metallica are lucky they got as far as they did piggy-backing off of Trivium's signature style.

Lemme have a look under the hood.

*Takes one look*

Your problem is Windows Vista. Plain and simple.

That'll be $1500, thanks. Checks only.
