I was just wondering, would it be worth putting these on my ESP F-50? Or should I just get a better guitar like the one from ESP (the wayne static custom V) can't remember the name but its on the site. (white with blood splatter)

why do you want emgs? id you want a better sound upgrade your amp first (im assuming you have a starter amp)
if you have a good amp then no, the ltd 50 series's arent really worth upgrading, you'd be better off getting a better overall guitar.

really? that sucks that i have a LTD then! I heard nothing but good things about those pickups

http://www.espguitars.com/guitars_dan.html is dans.
I guess it depends on how much money you have saved up. If you have enough for just the pickups i would give it a go, but if you're over half way for the V go for that.
You should really go to a store an try the V though, or a similar one, you will find it very different to your F series in nearly all asepcts.

I think all of the regular ESP (not LTD) models have EMG'S in them?

no, some have seymour duncans
and also what? he has an ltd f-50

upgrade - you're wasting your money putting quality pickups in that guitar. The 50 line is the cheaper indonesian ones. Agathis body isn't going to get you the sound you're trying to get - which, based on the fact you want 81/85 is a thick and sustained sound. If I were you - upgrade to some of the higher end models with mahogany.

its not that its an ltd, ltds can be fantastic guitars and the 50s are great starters, its just that emgs will not improve your tone as significantly as a new amp, nor will they sound their best unless they are playing through a hi gain amp.

basicly EMG's sound very average through anything other than really good amps. Look at Mesa, Deizel and Bognor if you play metal. The peavy 6505 series are less expensive and are also good. Your amp makes a far bigger difference to your tone than your guitar, so get a great amp, then the guitars

Not just High-Gain but also tube, even your amp is high-gain. It's the tubes that make the difference. Amps like Peavey 6505/+, Mesa Boogie Double/Triple Rectifier, Bugera 6262/6260/333, Deizel's, Bognor's, Krank's etc

As a rule of thumb;
bad amp+good guitar/pickups<good amp+bad guitar/pickups

So I suggest putting the money you're considering soending on pickups toward a new amp.

ok ill look into those...do i have to get a bigger size too? i guess so right? like will a 30W still be high gain compared to 75W or a 100W? I've only been playing about 7 months but i really want to look into making a sound and getting better things to improve it. I play a lot of metal, death and some viking.

EDIT aradraxor answered the first question. thanks!

Ok volume wise, tube amps and SS (solid state) amps differ;

30W tube = around 75W SS

And yes, 30W tube should be more than enough even for someone who has 10 years experience and gigs. Also, gain has nothing to do with the wattage, it's something that comes form the preamp tubes (I think) and other electronics. Btw, keep in mind that wattage is not proportionate to tone quality.

I'll agree here that tubes make a good difference with active EMG's but saying you need only a high gain amp to really get the best out of them...meh I dunno I guess thats personal preference.

you cant get a tube for your amp, it has to be built for tubes, so yes get whole new amp.
if your a metal player look at bugera and b52 amps as these are affordable metal voiced tube amps.

If you have a good amp and a few nice pedals you don't need active pups at all.

EMG's are great. I have a pair and they are cool...but even in Metal you dont need
extreme gear to get the bells and whistles. These companies that make pedals have
conned us into thinking that we need everything cranked up to 11. Most Metal is a whole lot cleaner than the impression u get from it. You actually dont need any distortion at all..but we are led to believe we do.

My most extreme sound comes from my B-52 with a Marshall 1960 ..running on the clean channel with gain up to 10...and a H&K Warp Factor with the volume turned up to 2 with the gain at about 4. I use seymour Duncan pups..Jazz and JB and it's brutal. Harmonics like sirens of hell.

EMG's are awesome for metal..they have alot of headroom and some players dont even use it at all. Zakk wylde did all of his trademark tekniks in a demonstration of his epiphone model with passive H4's. Do actives make a difference? Heck yeah. But you may not need them at all.

Spiders and MGs just cant produce the tones you are looking for. The players here can recommend some really good amps with a reasonable price.

u need to dump that awaful line 6 amp you have and get a good amp. thats going to improve your tone much more so than any new guitar or pickup would. check out the blackstar amps, theyre cheap all tube amps that are awesome. dont get a new guitar without getting a new amp first.
