My laptop constantly drops internet connection.

I was on it earlier today, and suddenly it lost internet connection. I entered the "Connect to a Network" window, but it kept saying no networks could be found (I have access to my own, my neighbour's, and the public wifi system).

I restarted it, and it connected fine. 10 minutes later, internet gone, no networks.

Restarted, 5 minutes of internet.

I'm expecting it to cut out again any second.

Help?

There could be a variety of reason why it's happening...bad router, bad WiFi card, software screw-up...

...modes and scales are still useless.

I've had more networking headaches with Macs than I even thought possible... Linux is a little better, but not worth it for a lot of people.

I've never had any problem networking with Mac or Windows, except faulty hardware, but that is a different matter. I just felt like being a fanboy for once.

in fairness most of the Macs I've encountered with bad networking issues where right when OSX came out and it had some problems with all that.

but yeah this is likely a hardware problem, try moving closer to the router.

What do you guys think is a good router? I've had a Linksys WRT54G for a few years now. It's always dropping and needs resetting. POS.

yeah OSX 10.0 through 10.2 were buggy as hell, 10.3 was ok, 10.4 and 10.5 network like a dream.
