The title pretty much sums it up, and I'm not exactly sure where to post this, so If it's in the wrong section, someone just tell me, but here's the problem:

My computer seems to lag quite a bit whenever I play games on it. In other words, the gameplay is almost never smooth, but rather, it's choppy and annoying . I even tried older games just to see if it was the newer ones that cause problems, i.e. Age of Empires III as a "new game" and Icewind Dale II as an older one. The problem actually gets worse on older games. What's going on here?

My computer model is the Acer Aspire 8930 equipped with vista which I aquired about three months ago, if that helps...

Many reasons:

1. Set up Vista properly. www.tweakuac.com The UAC is a big source for lag and freezing up.
2. Just because your computer is new doesn't mean it's built to play games. Check your specs.
3. Older games may not be compatible with Vista.

...modes and scales are still useless.
