Is it possible to mod a DSL 50 to sound more like a JCM 800?

I figure a pair of KT88's would help,

any ideas are welcome

You should be able to get an 800 tone out of it quite easily.....

Not sure about the DSL, but I was able to out of my TSL before i got rid of it
I've bought, sold, and traded more gear than I care to admit.

The whole jcm800 mojo is based on its simplicity (compared to other multi-channels marshalls). The fact that it's a single channel circuit with no efx loop cuts much of the signal degradation found in other models, exeptions being the very expensive and very well-built higher-end amps, like the jvm 410.

By degradation of course you could mean something else, but by tonal characteristics and my own taste I find the jcm800 to be a more pristine and pure marshall tone.

You could have the circuit modded to fit a ''jcm800 channel'' instead of the standard gain channel, but that would be expensive, that or having it modded so that the parts & electric values ressemble a '800, it could give a satisfying tone, but then it still would never be a genuine warhead.
I love music, if music would be a girl then I'd date her, until then let's get back on Earth

I boost my DSL with a TS808 so, I need a nice full crunchy tone to turn into a nice smooth distortion.

the DSL is too loose an grainy sounding, also its very overly compressed

KT88s have been a revelation for me in any amp that can take them....

The only valve for me for now.
