Looking for the following

Neck Thru
String Thru
Baritone
Maple Neck
Black Hardware
Black Body
no floyd
EMG's or Seymour Actives
Preferrably SS or soloist shape

I was looking at building one before, but i found out its cheaper to just buy....

I am buying a Mesa Boogie Roadster at the end of March as well as my rack setup, but I need the following specs on a new guitar.

Anyone know of anything out there or specific models...

I've already looked into the LTD MH401B, but I'm also checking out my other options.

Price isn't really an issue, but I'd prefer to not go over $1500
I've bought, sold, and traded more gear than I care to admit.

ESP 400 and up series guitars. With your budget, look at the MH1000 black model. It's got just about everything you requested.

Does the MH-1000 have a Baritone option?

You know - I'm not certain. BUT - with the limited budget restraints you have, you could have one made, honestly. If you go look up the specs of the 1000, then plug them into the custom shop but add a baritone scale, you'll be set.

I'd look at other ESP models as well - they do Horizon series baritones that are seriously nice guitars.

I think I may shoot for the LTD MHB-401....

everything I need.... and not too bad, about $749, but I was looking possibly for another brand.....

EDIT:

Thanks strat0blaster

I would ideally like a Horizon.... I really love the look!

EDIT EDIT: I would ideally not like to pay an extra $1000 just to add a longer neck scale.....thats ****ing insane.... and the ESP custom quote is down right now.....****

They charge that much for a scale change?

..... Damn.

Have a look at the horizons though - I know they do baritone models with EMGs.

I checked their website, and none of them are bari...

On another note

I dont know for a fact that they will charge that much extra...but it seems to me that the last time i did a custom quote like that, it came back as $1000 extra for a scale change, and a maple board with black hardware.....

The 401B on the other hand IS nice....i just... I have a few $700 guitars...and after about a year...they start losing it.... suning peg tension, string tension etc.... even after a setup they are never quite 100% again....

I mean, I will go higher than $1500 if I need to...but....****

Never mind - they used to. Apparently they took it out of their lineup.

That's a shame. The MHB401 is a nice guitar, though. You won't be disappointed.

The last ESP I had was the MH1000 with the duncan jb/59 set, and it ripped completely - never had any issues with it - even after several years. I actually kinda miss that guitar haha.

Maybe look into the SC baritone? they've got a 7 and 6 string version if you don't mind playing a signature guitar.

For the link. Specialty/Baritone is at the bottom part.

EDIT

They changed the headstock on the Horizons and it looks like crap..

No good, IMO.

Really? I always thought their website was really easy to navigate

Any of their models should be able to have those options added on.

The cheapest base price one would be a DC127 most likely. Obviously, they'll come with Carvin pickups, but switching them out for actives wouldn't be too big of a deal.

I agree strat, the new headstocks look very ghey, but yeah

Was it an ESP or LTD you owned? Im just not sure of the build on the 400 series....

It was an LTD. They stop at 1000 then become ESP, IMU.

Sorry for the double post but I just found this!

7 string baritone
**** sakes

only question....will the new Mesa flub out without an overdrive.....

http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/ESP-LTD-SC607B-7String-Baritone-Electric-Guitar?sku=516651

See? Told you on the SC

As far as the mesa having issues with the OD - I wouldn't think so. In fact, I'd suggest it as a Mesa's low end is pretty floppy and wet. My... That sounded rather perverse...

Anyway - the OD if used right through the front end should tighten it up. Just don't try to put it on full gain and stack it on a dirty channel - you probably already know that, though.

LOL thanks for the stephen carpenter suggestion...i usually hate sigs, but this thing is SICK....I actually wonder if its any good though....i'll go and try it while im in winnipeg (if they have one)

I lol'd at the floppy and wet as soon as i read it...

I plan on running this as my signal chain

Guitar>Wireless>ISP Decimator>GCX(FEEDTHRU TO TUNER)>Keeley Compressor>Keeley O/D>Mesa Roadster head>FX Loop Send>Delay>Chorus>FX Return>Cabinet

Not a bad thing, man. It's more complex than I go, though.

Mine looks like this through a Peavey XXX with an Ibanez S2120XAV

Guitar>Noise Suppressor>Amp
Loop out>Delay>Loop in

I've found if I have less in the chain, less can go wrong haha.

I will be running a rack setup so I can control everything from the front end....

I ****ing hate having to dance on stage just to get my tone...1 click preset and i go lol

Basically its a 6 space rack, and underneath in the same case, goes the head

Cab goes on top of that case and boom done

Only problem...as you said...something in the rack goes wrong and im down for a bit....in which case I just go guitar>wireless>OD>amp...but that takes 5 mins to set up

thanks again man

Just know your gear, man. Chances are if you do, you'll be able to find the problem and re-route pretty quickly anyway. No live show is perfect.

And no worries. Glad I could help.

borrowed someones dual recto for the 3rd show i ever did, and he set it up and everything...I had literally no sustain and no ****ing gain..... (he plays classic rock)

You know - I'm not much into Mesa anymore.

I played on my next future amp just last night, though - Bogner Shiva.

God do I love that amp. It's perfect in every concievable way.

hahaha, Erock was telling me about his ecstacy...haha...

I want to try an Uber...but even with that, you still need an O/D to tighten it....

I love mesa tone though...

It's funny - the Uberschall is a nice amp, but it's not warm enough for me, which is why I like the Shiva, I think.

Mesa's got great low end, I might just be tired of hearing every hard rock band using one since Korn.

and whats the DTT700? i know the iceman is the ICT700

Not a Super Strat or Soloist shape, but give the Viper Baritone a try.
#34
Thanks guys!

I think I'm pretty set on either the LTD MHB-401, or the Stephen Carpenter model.

I will play the viper, and see, but I have always hated SG shapes.....I mean...I would be willing to play a pink ****ing Hannah Montana guitar...but not an SG...don't know why....
