I found a steel string acoustic that's been lying in my loft for years. Then neck is very bowed, and the action is unplayably high. How can I lower it?

(filing the bridge is not an option)

Help much appreciated =]

Tie her up and drive her into some woods, pour petrol over her and then ask her if she wants you back.

Won't give me a f*cking blowjob though

If the neck is bowed, it needs a truss rod adjustment...

...just take it to a pro.
I'm not cool.

if the strings are old, did you want to swap them out first?

click the green link in my sig.
first post explains how to measure your neck's relief.

measure and post back here.

Jenny needs to sow her wild oats with random Gibsons and Taylors she picks up in bars before she settles down with a PRS.

No, it's old, and acoustic! It doesn't have a truss rod.....

truss rods started in the early 1900's

Acoustics can and most do have truss rods. you access them from the sound hole. Is the guitar a nylon string, classical, or steel?

In any case, take to a luthier
Gear's : Peavey Vypyr 60 Tube | MicroCube | Noisy Cricket | Ibanez S470DXQM Blue Burst | Takamine EG440C
Pedals : MXR M-108 EQ | Digitech Bad Monkey, Sanpera I, GFS Tuner

Seref : Cali would put a health warning on celery if they could

like said, check the sound hole.

if there's a truss rod, to support steel strings, then measure and post back.
