Hi!
It's about time I restring my ESP Eclipse. Thing is, I've never restrung(?) a guitar with GOTOH Machine Heads. There's a tutorial on it (link) but I can't get the video to start.
Can anyone explain how to do it?

Much appreciated!

Well, are they locking? If they're not, it's like any other machine head.

Ibanez RG3120 Prestige (Dimarzio Titans)
Squier Vintage Modified 70s Jazz V

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

Yes, they are. All Eclipses have the locking mechanism.

I don't think they're thumbscrews, and I don't know if they're magnum. I don't know the words for the different screws, since English is not my native language. Here's a (crappy) picture anyways: Headstock

Magnum locking tuners have no thumbscrew.

just untighten the tuners until the string is loose and you can pull it out (don't pull hard it should just smoothly slide out)

then put a new string through, hold the string and turn the tuners until the string is locked

it's explained in the user manual at http://www.espguitars.com/ESP_Owners_Manual.pdf
Main gear
  • ESP Eclipse II Standard (BK Cold Sweat)
  • ESP Horizon NT-II Standard (SD '59/JB)
  • Marshall JVM 410 Combo
