most places have a PA and sometimes an engineer too, you shouldn't need one
And on the seventh day, I said "Go to your room!"

check out my jazz tab and ill gladly do a review of any of your stuff

I play the bass clarinet! How 'bout you? PM me!

are you going to be using it just for vocals?
are you going to be mic'ing the drum set?
Do you need to mic the amps?
What kind of music do you play?
How much money do you have to spend?
Do you need stage monitors as well?
Do you want to have a separate mixer and power amp?
Whats the longest word?

we play alternative rock and we might mic drums and maybe amps. no idea how much spend. we are only just starting and it would be mainly for practice and mates partys to play. for clubs etc we might not need pa but for practice mainly.

I know what you mean hahaha

In terms of wattage I'd say get something around 600 watts, with 15 inch speakers. If you going to want to mic the drums you are going to need to spend some more on a bigger mixer.

Do you have mics?

you don't need a PA for practice. Admittedly my band uses one, but that's only because it happens to be available to us.

I'm sure why you would need a PA to play at mate's parties and any places that don't have their own PA systems are obviously so small you can just use your amps alone
