Today I was " that guy".

Went to guitar center, started playing simple chord progressions next to some guys. One guy got with it, then he left. The other guy didn't, and I kept trying to get it it to work, but damn it he wouldn't do it. And he sounded a lot better than me too, so I didn't have the balls to solo or try to compete with the guy.

Basically, I made myself look like an idiot by trying to do the equivalent of the " slow clap". I really do wish that more people would jam instead of getting in their own world and letting loose.

Just wanted to say that.

Next time, grab a guitar and play in the darkest corner you can find.

Or if no dark corner is available, surely you can find a big, dark cloud of smog in guitar center to hide in.

lemme get this straight, you tried to jam with someone whom you'd never met, and are disappointed it didnt work out.

I believe guitar shops aren't for jamming?

Never said they were, I said I wish more people would do it because all of the damn amps are next to each other. Therefore it becomes so hard to hear yourself play with a bunch of people playing stuff in different keys and tempos, LOUD so they can hear what they're doing. . It's hard to play with the one guy playing so damned loud that it goes through the entire store. I try to play along with people if I can just for fun, but usually they just switch riffs every few seconds.

And you can try out guitars and jam, infact my primary goal was to try out guitars, and I did. I'm not even really disappointed, I'm just saying that I wished it happened because it would've been cool.

I was also "that guy" today. I was sitting on the subway and I was that guy who sat on the subway. Good times. Better story.

I was "that guy" at a Radiohead concert once.

I got beaten up. Twice. I think Ed O'Brian was in the second crowd

But weren't there a bunch of other "that guys" sitting on the subway?

Only if they were vain enough to think of themselves as being "that guy."

I hate vanity.
