I've decided to make my first serious attempt at songwriting. I'm a metalhead, so I wanted to make a metal song, but I didn't want the lyrics to be too heavy/brutal, and I wanted to start out with something tangible so I had some real direction. Anyway, here's my first draft of the song, working title "Jambalaya"

Intro

Verse 1:

I tell you jambalaya is a famous cajun food
It's nutritious and delicious, so eating it is good

Boil a quarter cup of red beans in a pot for thirty minutes
Put another on the stove and then melt some butter in it

Dice up half a pepper, some celery, an onion
Half a pound of sausage, and two thighs from a chicken

Then sautee your veggies over medium heat
When they start to caramelize, then you can add the meat

Chorus:

Jambalaya
I can satisfy ya
Jambalaya
It is worth a try-a

If hunger's what you feel
And you're looking for a meal
Then just cook yourself a pot
And eat it while it's steaming hot

Verse 2:

Add a cup of pasta sauce, and then two of rice
And mix in a tablespoon of your favorite cajun spice

Pour three cups of chicken stock into your pot
And then turn the heat to low, cause you don't need it that hot

Mix your red beans, and then put on the cover
And you're gonna let it simmer for about half an hour

Once you have accomplished this culinary feat
There will be some jambalaya for you family to eat.

Well, I'm legitimately working on a song, but the lyrics themselves aren't supposed to be taken seriously. I guess think along the lines of Gwar, but about cooking instead of violence.

Throw that on top of a NOLA sludge riff, and you're golden
