so as i start playing guitar again, i think i want to incorporate some thrash into my playing, i usually play some kind of hardcore but recently ive been into alot of metal and i need some really kickass song to help me out
i want to stay away from any technical sweeping or tapping, or solos
i definitely want to stay away from those standard hardcore chugs to bring me out of that way of playing
ive only recently really been getting into bands like vital remains and the older stuff i used to listen to like pantera..
and cool recommendations?

thanks in advance

Stop trying to incorporate stuff into your sound - play what feels natural to you.

It didn't seem possible, but apparently Messiah can spam even more now.

I can see it now. "Dark Thrones and Black People".

In that case learn Hit the Lights by Metallica. Great song, fun as fuck, too.

its alright, id like to break the barrier im having with the open e's though..
at least for now, that ones definitely alittle too powerchord based.
maybe something alittle more pantera (off the f*cking hostile album) related?

Hit the Lights actually has very little power chord based... And if you're looking to break the open e thing though (Hit the Lights is mostly open a's ) Thrash is not the best genre.

Call of the Wintermoon. Great song to play.

The point of underground bands is their not popular or famous most of the time. Thus there is a good chance they suck.

In Flames is pretty good at staying away from the E chugging riff.

I suggest Swim off Clayman, or Insipid 2000 off Colony.

Metallica is a no no if you want to stay away from power chords.

Gama Bomb is really fun to play, and also good practice for your right hand.

Opeth - Advent. There are thrashy riffs, but also atmospheric acoustic parts and a lot of melody-based, harmonised rhythm parts. It's not too hard to learn, and may open up some new things for you
