im trying to record some brit-folk based acoustic tracks
most of them are working on having two lines of music; a rythmn and a melody.

i can get the rythmn part nailed easy using chords n such but ive been using the pentatonic scales for the melodies and theyre all sounding bluesy, which is fine, but its just making everything sound the same.
can anyone suggest some not-so-bluesy scales that i could use?

Try adding the 6th scale degree in with minor pentatonic. I think dorian and mixolydian modes are used alot in Irish folk music..
