Haha, I mean an area inside the route that the pickups will screw onto. A ledge is the only word I can think of to describe that.

so all you do is just screw the pickup into the wood? ive also read that people take foam and put it under the pickup so as to act like a spring.

You'll have to wait for LPaddict to come in here. I've never done a direct mount, and he's the master at that(it's all he does).
