What would be the best amp to get a good classic rock sound. In particular Lynyrd skynyrd, AC/DC and Led Zeppelin.

Also, are there any amp settings or effects that are usually used for this sound?
For example high treble, bass or contour?

Marshall JCM 800

Just plug in, crank it up, and you'll nail those tones with ease.
- Gibson Flying V 120 #1 (White)
- Gibson Flying V 120 #2 (Cherry)
- Gibson SG Standard ('61 style)
- Jackson DK2M

- ENGL Fireball 60
- Avatar 4x12

- Many pedals, plus other stuff

Marshall plexi. The JCM800s sounded quite a bit different from the plexi panel amps made famous by acts like AC/DC and Led Zeppelin

I'd say an Orange amp would do the trick for all the classic rock sounds.

this. sound a whole heap better imo. i have a clip on my profile called take it away using an 800 if you wanna hear hear a sample if it. the other clip on there is using a jcm900 but in no way is it close to classic rock.

if your not gigging i would go with something like an old Champ or supro amp, cranked up, maybe a fuzz infront of it. after all, most classic rockers recorded with small(ish) combos. (early zep, stones, hendrix, skynyrd. also, the layla album was all champ.)

Whats your budget? If you don't have that much of a budget then I'd suggest a peavey classic30 or vox AC15. If you have a relatively high budget then go with one of the marshalls suggested above.

Fender Highway One HSS Strat

Well it depends on your budget. As mentioned above Plexi's or a JCM 800 would do great but that's not exactly practical for everyone, they're bloody expensive and bloody loud.

Definately look at the peavey classic 30, it would be perfect for you, especially if you boost it with an OD pedal.
The gear:

* Epiphone Les Paul Custom
* Schecter Jeff Loomis Signature 7 String
* Fender Squier P Bass
* Blackstar Stage HT-60
* Original Crybaby
* EHX Small Clone
* Boss DD-3

Marshall DSL 100 or 50.

Excellent amp that has classic rock tone in spades.

But if you have the money....... get a JTM 45 or JCM 800 2203!!

I think you could probably do well with a Classic 30 Peavey..... but a Marshall has more classic rock growl to it.
