i don't know anything about drums, but for easiest i'd say most indie fag bands that i've heard because if i can drum along then they must be pretty wank.
for hardest, maybe black/death metal stuff, just for the sheer stamina involved to do a whole show.
but like i said...no idea.

Maybe a cliche one, but Hellhammer from Mayhem (ex-COF and Dimmu Borgir, among others) is one of the most precise and technical drummers I actually enjoy listening too.

Easiest? I dont know. Emo rock.

For sheer weirdness Tool are hardest. Or Russian Circles, their drummer is immense.

Easiest? No idea, most mainstream bands use the same beat nowadays

Most metal beats - not fills - are stupidly easy, they just require stamina

For hardest, ima have to go with some kind of Jazz beat

Easiest: Korn
Hardest: Anything by Derek Roddy

Fast =/= hard

anyone can play blast beats. It's takes a hell of a lot of skill and precision to play a lot of jazz.

Look up people like Bill Bruford and Billy Cobham or Steve Gadd or Gene Krupa

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

Not anyone can play blast beats. Firstly you have to properly synchronise both your hands and your feet, and at fast tempos that is insane. Then You have to be able to consistently hit at the same velocity.

Not saying it's harder than jazz drumming, but still.

I'm not an expert on drums but I agree that progressive drummers have it the hardest due to changing time signatures and the weird nature of the beats. So I would agree on Tool or something like that.

Yeah I totally agree with you on that, it takes a lot of time and patience to do but not much skill. All you need is to do very very very very very very very simple things really quickly, which most people could do within a couple of weeks if they really applied themself.

Whereas with a lot of other genres, especially jazz, it takes a lot of practice, skill, know-how, technique as well as excellent dynamics.

Easiest - Blink 182
Hardest - Wintersun

I know the elitist pricks on here always put down the bands who play easy guitar songs and that i can understand...but Blink's drumming being easy ?

Anyways easiest - Slow pop songs like here without you, far away...you know standard 4/4 at super slow tempos.

Hardest - Well can't exactly choose a song, but most progressive music has insane drumming.
