right, so for the last year ive been playing my yamaha rbx 170 through a god damn awful guitar amp.

now the time has come where i has money. 300 pounds in fact, but would rather spend under 200...

i'm planning in playing gigs, and play stuff which sounds quite a lot like muse, but also need a fairly versatile amp....

help?

I can't be arsed to look up pounds->USD conversions, but I will tell you that an Ampeg BA-115 is a damn good amp for around $600
Only play what you hear. If you don’t hear anything, don’t play anything.

I don't know the conversion to US dollars (which I think in), but it sounds like you are on quite a tight budget. You should be able to get a very reliable and inexpensive used Peavey bass combo. I still have a TNT 130 I used in the 1980's. My Fender BXR 300 went onthe fritz, so I had to dust off the 130 and it sounded great and still worked after 20 yrs storage.
