How do I get my computer to stop linking my recent documents on the task bar...

Under the start menu, and documents, it lists all of my recently opened documents. Is there any way I can get this to stop? I do so much college work and have numerous files open everyday and I delete them often, but the shortcut to the deleted files are still there. I'd rather this just be gone.

PS I know this isn't tech support, but I don't exactly know of any computer help sites and I googled it but couldn't find answers.

Use the search bar.... there is a computer thread.

Right click start bar, click properties.
Go to "start menu" tab and uncheck the "store and display a list of recently opened -----"
