I found that boosting the clean channel with the drive on ten for both the amp and my dyna drive got me GREAT tone with my spidervalve. So well i guess this is one question with a follow up, should i sell the dyna drive and get an even better OD, with some cash, or should i just keep the dyna drive? If you think i should get a new one, then please recomend the best one that you know of. The most i'll spend is $200, and it would be really nice if it were a tube overdrive.

Chandler Tube driver.

nonononooo do not get a Chandler! They are basically the knock off of BK Butler's real Tube Driver, they stole his design and tried to make it theirs when BK Butler was working with them. Just go for the real thing if you are going to get a Tube Driver.

And I'm not sure to say that a Tube Driver would even be best for metal... I think you might need something a little more grittier.

+1

and whats with all these pedals I've never even heard of being suggested all over the place!? It's good that they're being recommended because it gives the TS more options, but I feel so left out...

I'm talking about the tone.
Some OD's alter your tone while boosting, and others don't.

sorry about that...It depends on what the spidervalve likes best, so as of now i dont think it really matters whether its boost or not.

^^ all OD's boost in some way. He means that some can change your tone a bit while transparent ones usually don't alter your tone at all.

For instance, the OD808 will remove a bit of bass and tighten up the low end.
Something like the blackstar boost is transparent and won't alter the EQ.

EDIT: All OD pedals still boost the signal, but some alter your EQ and others don't.

erm, Hardwire Tube Overdrive? or Valve driver or something like that.

quite pricey though.

I can manage $100, i'll probably search on ebay for as cheap as i can find (with a warranty of course).
okay so the top three for me right now are the following:
Hardwire Tube Overdrive
Fulltone OCD
Maxon od808
other recomendations are welcome though
