I don't see Windows 7 coming out by then, but, cool.

Er, the only problems I see are the hard drive (which I mentioned above; too many bad reviews on the one you linked), and the motherboard. Apparently, the one you linked has been known to have problems such as the on-board audio stop working, so, if you do go with that one, I'd say get a sound card, or, if you have one in your old computer, use it.

The one problem your gonna have is that the power supply is no where near big enough to power that video card, you will need about 650w MINIMUM. On a side note if you can find a 260GTX for about that price your better off with it instead. It'll run cooler, use less power (you'll still need a 650w ower supply though) and be slightly more powerful. If you've got your mind set on that GFX card though thats fine but you will definatly need a gruntier power supply.

Other than that she should go like the clappers

Agreed. Also, you may want to think about 4gb of RAM.

You are on the right track but if you aren't gonna buy it until summer don't bother with it now since all of those things will be sorta more "out of date" by then :P

BTW, save in some on the motherboard. I suggest a ASUS P5Q series(for now) and go with the corsair RAM but 6400 if you ain't planing on OC.

don't buy a 9800 GTX+.

seriously, it's too large and overpriced. buy an ATI HD 4850 or 4870. also, purchase more memory if you're using 64-bit. i would say, use around 4.

alright awesome thx for the PSU help, but what about the memory, should i go with this kind of ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231122 or this kind of ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145043

the graphics card would run fine under a 450 watt PSU and a GTX 260 is massive, so it'd be much more difficult to stick in there. also, the GTX 260 is somewhat overpriced.

the corsair will be faster but with the other gear you've got you won't be able to tell. All of the computers i've built recently have had g-skill in them and haven't let me down yet. plus the engrish on the sides of the packets i ****ing hillarious. That and if you're going 64bit for th OS the 4GB of slightly slower RAM is better than the 2GB of faster memory.

Edit: on the gfx card, I had a 9800gtx and it blew up so I replaced it with a 260 and I can tell you its the same size. You could run it with a 450w PSU the only problem is it would be running at high load constantly and burn the PSU out alot faster. And when you consider that a PSU total power output drops signifigantly over time you are much better overspeccing than just making minimum specs.

check the edit i made to my last post

yet another edit: also that PSU dosen't have the required power connectors and most 450w won't

yep you'll only seep the speed difference if you go for a much more expensive processor and mobo, that and i've just reliazed that those sticks are exactly what i've got in my machine, if it helps im running:

Athlon 6400+ x2 Processor
MSI M7n sli Mobo
4GB g-skill Pc6400 RAM
3x 320GB Segate HDD
XFX 260GTX Vid card
Silverstone 650w modular Psu
windows XP 64-bit

with that i'm able to run Crysis at all high at 1650x1050 at a steady 50fps

the machine your looking at will probably do a slight bit better than that

@ Freedoms stain-well im not on an unlimited budget here lol, im getting a job in summer, 7.50$ an hour, prolly working 6 hours a day, 5 day weeks, which would equal to ~200$ aweek, but.. idk how many weeks ill work, so i would like the budget to be less than 800 bucks FOR NOW... so that puts the quad core out of the question, and im gona get the 32mb cache, but I LOVE the Dual Core Wolfdale by looking at it... it looks very very promising, i gtg guitar lessons, bbs
