First episode.

Thoughts?

I still can't believe he got The Roots. That's pretty phenomenal.

I have high hopes for the show, but it will take a long period of adjustment.

I think he's only good with sketch comedy and his show won't do well, he doesn't seem like the type that would be good with making jokes on the spot and being funny with guests like Conan and Leno are.

I thought last nights was terrible. I can't really blame him, though.
EDIT: Also, I think DeNiro fired his agent for making him go on the show. He looked like he wanted to kill himself the whole time.

he's no Conan. And I dont think Conan will work well taking Leno's gig. He has his own style and he should have kept his show.

All things considered, though, the theme for the show was great.

I think we need to remember that this was jimmys FIRST show. you gotta give him time to become a late night host, get into the groove of things and, if you ask me, get his delivery down.

i personally thought that his stand up at he beginning and the slow-jam bit showed a lot of promise.

though i hate the idea of a little game show on a late night, i think lick it for 10 could have been a little funny with the right delivery... like if he went on and on about all the expensive and high quality specs of the item and then gone "so... you gonna lick it?"
that woulda been kinda funny :P

Well, Conan had a rocky start, too, even though his first episode was way better than Jimmy Fallon's. He needs time, that's for damn sure.

He also needs to shut the hell up and let Robert DiNero speak. Srsly.

Jimmy lacks the direction that other late night hosts have, they all have something special about them that makes people want to watch them over somebody else. Jimmy's show just seemed to be all over the place without trying to appeal to anybody.

I think is has potential
Remember guys it was his first episode, which is nowhere comparable to Conan's legacy. It's a different approach but with time it should be much better.

Best part was when Conan was emptying out his dressing room.

Fact.

Conan was made for the 11:30 Late Night slot. He has the right amount of funny and nerdy to appeal to those who stayed up late with nothing better to do. I hope he does good at 10:30.

I watched Fallons last night. De Niro looked really unexcited to be there.

I liked the band. I chuckled a little during his monologue. The slow jam thing has potential. I didn't laugh at all during the licking sketch. Also, the announcer is annoying. I'd give it a 4/10 but I'm hopeful it will get better after all Conan had a shaky start as well.

I think so, which is pretty damned amazing.

I have a huge, huge, huge love for Max Weinberg and the Max Weinberg Seven, but The Roots were phenomenal, and kind of 1up-ed them for a first show.

MW&MW7 forever, though. You can never replace La Bamba and Pender.

Psh, forget making fun of him.

Watching the clip of La Bamba sing the National Anthem at a basketball game in a range only animals can hear was astounding.

And don't forget "In the Year 2000".

I've seen him guest-host for David Letterman once, he was alright, though he seemed like he was very scripted. I'm not a big fan of his persona, though he can sometimes get a few laughs out of me.

I always thought the shows were rehearsed then taped and the jokes therefore were not on the spot?

I'm watching the monologue from the first episode, and it's painful.

The Roots are cool though.

I remember after the strike was over the show lost its spunk for a couple months. Those strike episodes spoiled me and i kind of hoped they would give Conan more freedom since those shows had to be some of the best.

Hold the phone...........Leno was supposed to move to 10:30, then Conan was supposed to go to 11:30 and Fallon was supposed to take Conan's old time slot.......but this week Leno has been at regular time, Fallon was in Conan's place and Carson Daly was after Fallon....

I looked for a schedule for next week and Conan still isn't in the lineup...where'd he go?

EDIT: Never mind, I just checked and according to Wiki (not the best source, but...) and it says he takes the Tonight Show on June 1st....that's too long to go without!
